The Growth Journey of a Teenager

Life is a long and meaningful journey, especially for every teenager who grows up step by step in the warm sunshine, chases dreams bravely and learns to be a better person every day. I am a middle school student, living an ordinary but colorful life, experiencing all kinds of interesting things, meeting different people and gaining rich knowledge in the process of growing up.

Every morning, the warm sunlight shines through the window into my small bedroom, waking me up gently from a sweet dream. I stretch my body slowly, then get up quickly, make the bed neatly, wash my face with clean water and brush my teeth carefully. After that, I walk to the dining room, where my kind parents have prepared delicious and healthy breakfast: fresh milk, soft bread, hot porridge, fried eggs and seasonal fruits. We sit around the table, chat happily about daily trivial things, and enjoy the warm time of family togetherness before I go to school.

I put on my tidy school uniform, carry my heavy schoolbag which is full of textbooks, exercise books, notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, rulers and pencil – boxes, and say goodbye to my parents politely. Then I walk to the bus stop on foot, waiting for the school bus patiently. Along the road, I can see green grass, colorful flowers, tall trees, lovely birds flying in the blue sky, and busy street vendors selling all kinds of daily goods. The fresh air fills my lungs, making me feel relaxed and energetic all over.

When the school bus arrives, I get on it quietly and find a seat to sit down. There are many classmates on the bus, some are reading English words silently, some are talking about interesting stories happened yesterday, and others are listening to soft music with headphones. The bus drives slowly on the wide road, passing by supermarkets, banks, libraries, parks, hospitals and small shops, and finally stops at the gate of our beautiful middle school.

Our school is a big and wonderful place with a long history. There are several tall teaching buildings, a bright and spacious library with thousands of books, a large playground with a plastic runway, a clean dining hall, a quiet garden and a modern gym. As soon as I enter the school gate, I can see the bright national flag fluttering in the wind, and the words “Unity, Diligence, Truth – seeking, Innovation” written on the wall, which are the motto of our school.

I walk into my classroom quickly, greet my classmates and teachers warmly, and then sit on my seat to take out my school things and prepare for the first class. We have twelve different subjects at school: Chinese, Math, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Politics, P.E., Music and Art. Each subject is useful and interesting, helping us know more about the world, develop different skills and shape our correct values.

My dear teachers are all knowledgeable, patient and responsible. They don’t only teach us textbook knowledge carefully, explain difficult language points, formulas, laws and historical events clearly, but also tell us how to face difficulties, how to get on well with others, how to respect the old and love the young, and how to be an honest and polite person. When we make mistakes, they will point them out seriously and guide us to correct them patiently; when we meet troubles in study, they will help us solve them warmly and encourage us to keep going bravely.

During the forty – minute class, we listen to teachers attentively, take useful notes quickly, think actively about every question, and answer them loudly and bravely. We discuss study problems with classmates in groups, share our own ideas freely, and learn from each other to make progress together. Between classes, we have a short ten – minute break. Some students go out of the classroom to do some light exercise, walk on the corridor, breathe fresh air and relax their eyes; some stay in the classroom to drink water, tidy desks or talk with friends happily; others go to the office to ask teachers for advice on study.

At noon, all students go to the school dining hall to have lunch. The cooks in the dining hall cook different kinds of delicious food every day: rice, noodles, dumplings, all kinds of vegetables, meat, fish and soup. We line up politely to get meals, eat quietly without wasting any food, and clean the table after finishing eating. After lunch, some students take a short rest in the classroom, some read books in the library, and others do some homework or review lessons in advance.

In the afternoon, we continue to have classes, learn more new knowledge and take part in all kinds of colorful school activities: English corner, basketball match, football game, singing competition, drawing show, speech contest, science experiment and volunteer activities. These activities not only make our school life more interesting, but also improve our practical abilities, cultivate our hobbies and interests, and help us make more sincere friends.

After school, I finish my homework carefully at school first, then say goodbye to my teachers and classmates, and walk home on foot with my best friends. On the way home, we talk about our study plans, future dreams, favorite movies, songs, books and sports, and share our happiness and troubles with each other. When I get home, I greet my parents first, then put my schoolbag in the bedroom, wash my hands and help my parents do some simple housework: sweep the floor, clean the windows, wash dishes, fold clothes and water the flowers.

In the evening, after finishing all my homework, I review the knowledge I learned during the day carefully, recite English words and texts, memorize historical events and geographical locations, and preview the new lessons that will be learned tomorrow. Sometimes I read extra – curricular books, such as story books, fairy tales, science books and magazines, to broaden my horizons and enrich my spiritual world. My parents often check my homework, praise my progress and point out my shortcomings, hoping that I can study harder and make greater progress.

On weekends, I don’t need to go to school, so I can arrange my time freely. On Saturday morning, I get up a little late, then do some sports at home or in the park, like running, jumping, playing badminton and skipping rope, to keep healthy. In the afternoon, I go to the bookstore to buy useful study materials or read books quietly, or visit my grandparents with my parents, talk with them about my school life, listen to their interesting stories about the past, and accompany them to walk in the park. On Sunday, I finish all my weekend homework, help my parents with more housework, and then have a good rest to prepare for the new school week.

During holidays, my parents will take me to travel to different places. We visit famous mountains, beautiful rivers, ancient towns, modern cities, museums, science and technology halls and cultural relics. I can enjoy the wonderful natural scenery, feel the long history and culture of our country, learn about different local customs and living habits, and know more about the world outside. Every trip brings me new feelings and precious memories, making me love life more and cherish the present life more.

Growing up is not always full of happiness and success. Sometimes I will face many difficulties and challenges: failing in exams, feeling confused about study, quarreling with friends occasionally, and feeling stressed about heavy study tasks. But I never give up easily. I tell myself to be strong and confident, calm down to find the reasons for failure, ask teachers and classmates for help, adjust my study methods in time, and keep working hard. I know that only by overcoming difficulties one by one can I grow up gradually, become more independent and strong, and realize my beautiful dreams in the future.

I have a great dream: I want to be a useful person to the society when I grow up. To make this dream come true, I must study hard from now on, master all kinds of knowledge and skills firmly, develop good study and living habits, respect teachers, unite classmates, be kind to others, keep an optimistic and positive attitude towards life, and never stop pursuing progress. I believe that as long as I stick to my dream, work hard continuously and never give up, I will certainly have a bright future and live a meaningful and valuable life.

背诵短语,例如 give up, take part in, prepare for。
